What is the consignment process?
New and used items are received at our downtown Chicago location through personal drop-off or through our Complimentary Pick-up Service. Once the item has been evaluated a Luxe Life service associate will:
- Assist in item valuation and consult on auction listing options
- Professionally photograph items and detail characteristics
- Write a detailed description of each item
- List, monitor and provide customer support to potential buyers
- Process the transaction and elegantly package and ship to the buyer
- Mail the seller a check from the proceeds of the sale
What is the fee structure?
Standard Auctions
Our standard auctions transact through eBay and offer a wide range of items including designer bags, shoes, fashion, books and more.
- 35% of first $1,000 sold
- 28% of $1,000 – $3,000
- 15% of $3,001 – $6,000
- 10% of $6,001 +
- Although the “market demand” determines the final selling value, we accept items that fit our definition of luxury with a estimated minimum eBay selling value of $50.
- $15.99 Minimum Commission applies for all items listed for sale on eBay
- Additional fees may apply for onsite photography, timed auctions, minimum reserve requirements etc.

Antiques and Collectibles
Our antique and collectible sales transact through two providers: eBay, the global online auction service and Ruby Lane, an online reseller focused in fine art, antiques and vintage collectibles.
- 35% of first $1,000 sold
- 25% of $1,001 – $3,000 sold
- 15% of $3,001 – $5,000 sold
- 10% of remainder
- An estimated minimum selling value of $200 applies for all fine art, antiques and home decorative.
- Fees are inclusive of shipping, hosting and transaction fees (auction house fees, PayPal and standard processing fees.)

All items purchased from Luxe Life have been authenticated utilizing industry standards or, if deemed necessary, certified by one of our Expert Industry Partners. Luxe Life Expert Partnerships are a network of experienced professionals skilled in evaluating an item’s authenticity. Whether it be a vintage couture bag, designer fur coat, or 1950’s gold watch you can be assured of its authenticity. If we are unable to authenticate an item, we will qualify its status in the auction listing or simply choose not to sell it.
